AbstractAdditive manufacturing (AM) possesses appealing potential for manipulating material compositions, structures and properties in end-use products with arbitrary shapes without the need for specialized tooling. Since the physical process is difficult to experimentally measure, numerical modeling is a powerful tool to understand the underlying physical mechanisms. This paper presents our latest work in this regard based on comprehensive material modeling of process–structure–property relationships for AM materials. The numerous influencing factors that emerge from the AM process motivate the need for novel rapid design and optimization approaches. For this, we propose data-mining as an effective solution. Such methods—used in the process–structure, structure–properties and the design phase that connects them—would allow for a design loop for AM processing and materials. We hope this article will provide a road map to enable AM fundamental understanding for the monitoring and advanced diagnostics of AM processing.

Title:Explore, Select, Derive, and Recall: Augmenting LLM with Human-like Memory for Mobile Task Automation

Abstract:The advent of large language models (LLMs) has opened up new opportunities in the field of mobile task automation. Their superior language understanding and reasoning capabilities allow users to automate complex and repetitive tasks. However, due to the inherent unreliability and high operational cost of LLMs, their practical applicability is quite limited. To address these issues, this paper introduces MemoDroid, an innovative LLM-based mobile task automator enhanced with a unique app memory. MemoDroid emulates the cognitive process of humans interacting with a mobile app -- explore, select, derive, and recall. This approach allows for a more precise and efficient learning of a task's procedure by breaking it down into smaller, modular components that can be re-used, re-arranged, and adapted for various objectives. We implement MemoDroid using online LLMs services (GPT-3.5 and GPT-4) and evaluate its performance on 50 unique mobile tasks across 5 widely used mobile apps. The results indicate that MemoDroid can adapt learned tasks to varying contexts with 100% accuracy and reduces their latency and cost by 69.22% and 77.36% compared to a GPT-4 powered baseline.

Using live environmental data collected from the Internet, Quévillon presents a vision of the “physical” state of the world which, by conveying the fluctuations of weather, is at once dreadful and marvelous. We find ourselves face-to-face with the sublime, with the romanticism of the digital age. Our sole power resides in the act of representation, which may lead to prediction. Insofar as perception is an intermeshing of thought and knowledge, the role of the imagination is no longer passive here, but allows us to act within the interstices of what one calls “the real.”

This installation invites to explore 3D models of geographical locations that are transformed according to real-time environmental data collected on the Internet. By their displacements in front of the projection, the public interacts with a digitized space whose appearance and recognizability are determined by information about ongoing meteorological and astronomical phenomena. In addition to its visualization, the data transmitted by remote environmental sensors is sonified.
The distant locations shown were created by the use of photogrammetry, geomatic data and 3D modeling. These point cloud models provide XYZ coordinates that are used in a changing virtual space which reassembles a dynamic particle system. The display and positions of the points and of the mesh that connects them are determined by the following environmental information as a mean to evoke or simulate them :
Local time : Point size and brightness.
Temperature : Point color.
Cloudiness : Point color saturation and brightness.
Wind : Point displacement reflecting speed and direction.
Visibility : Intensity of a depth of field effect and transparency.
Humidity : Depth of field focus distance and point sharpness.
Precipitation : Lines are drawn from the sky to the ground and points are destabilized.
